A Note From Our Founder

I've been obsessed with muscle cars and racing for as long as I can remember. As a child I would go to car shows with my father and be mesmerized by everything I saw. over time that quickly became hours spent on the floor playing with hot wheels cars, then RC cars, and then studying about muscle car history. After a year of saving up money and doing odd jobs, I was able to secure 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass in 2010, at the age of 13 (for a whopping $1300, half of which was paid for by my parents as a Christmas present). Though the car was in need of a total restoration, that didn't matter....I finally had a muscle car to call my own!

Around that same time I took a very heavy interest in racing. I was constantly watching nascar, sportscars, and everything in between, dreaming about a chance to get on track someday. So I guess it isn't much of a surprise that over time my love of muscle cars and circuit racing eventually combined, and you could imagine my excitement when I discovered the pro touring movement. Muscle cars that are built to go fast around road courses? It's a dream come true! In high school I started following along with the various pro touring events and builds through forum posts, youtube videos, and other forms of social of social media. It was around this time that I decided to start building my Cutlass in this manner.

All of these mechanical fascinations ultimately drove me to get a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Connecticut. While there, I ran the car club and was going home almost every day after class to work on my Cutlass, and slowly live out the dream I had in my head. Fast forward to graduating in 2020, and I was finally out in the world as a mechanical engineer, and much to my dismay, the corporate world of engineering wasn't quite what I expected. My Cutlass quickly became an outlet; a means for me to enjoy engineering in a realm that I loved and was interested in to an obsessive degree.

As I went deeper down the rabbit hole, I began applying the engineering principles and design philosophies that I had been studying into my car, and muscle cars in general. I very quickly found out that there was alot of imitation within the industry, and most companies were reactive, not proactive with their designs. As a result, many of the parts and designs I felt should be on the market were not, and most companies were complacent.

I decided to roll the passion and ideas I had into Gorman Performance Engineering, and have since put together a team of equally passionate and skilled individuals who all share a love of cars and racing. We all live and breathe every step of the process; from design to manufacturing, testing, and everything in between, we truly are masters of everything that goes into delivering the best products and service possible. Beyond our technical prowess, Gorman Performance Engineering represents a different approach to the culture of engineering and manufacturing. We have created an environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, and initiative is rewarded with opportunity. We all share the same vision, and work towards it with all of our might.

This truly is a dream come true, so thank you for being a part of it.
