About us
Gorman Performance Engineering
A team of engineers with racing backgrounds, building Corvettes, Porsches, race cars and restomods, plus track-ready setups for drivers across New England from Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
Our mission
Engineered, not imitated
Our engineers design for function first: every choice on the car has to earn its place. Whether it’s a daily-driven street build or a dedicated race car, the approach is the same: measure, engineer, build, validate.
Every project also trains the next generation of engineers. Keeping that pipeline alive is how performance engineering stays healthy, and how it stays in Connecticut.
We’re based in Rocky Hill and work with drivers across New England and the East Coast. Whether you need a full build, a suspension package or a second opinion on a stubborn handling problem, start the conversation.

What you get
Why customers choose us
Engineering first
Every build starts with a question: what does this car actually need? We answer it with engineering, and with the judgment that only comes from racing.
Built to be driven
We spend complexity where it earns real performance and cut it where it doesn't, whether your car lives on the street or the track. What you get back is a car that performs, is easier to live with and worth what you spent.
Growing the next generation
Every project doubles as training for young engineers, because keeping hands-on performance engineering alive in the U.S. matters to us.
Straight answers
You talk directly to the people designing and building your car. Clear communication, realistic timelines, and no surprises on the invoice.
A note from our founder
Pat Gorman
I've been obsessed with cars and racing for as long as I can remember. As a child I would go to car shows with my father and was mesmerized by everything I saw. Then hot wheels cars, then RC cars, then studying muscle car history. After a year of saving up and doing odd jobs, I was able to buy a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass in 2010, at the age of 13 (for a whopping $1300, half of which was paid for by my parents as a Christmas present). The car needed a total restoration, but that didn't matter. I finally had a muscle car to call my own.
My love of muscle cars and circuit racing eventually combined, and discovering the pro touring movement was a dream come true: muscle cars built to go fast around road courses. All of those fascinations led me to a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Connecticut, where I ran the car club and worked on my Cutlass almost every day after class.
As I went deeper down the rabbit hole, I began applying the engineering principles and design philosophies I had been studying into my car, and into cars in general. I quickly found there was a lot of imitation within the industry. Most companies were reactive, not proactive with their designs. So I rolled the passion and ideas I had into Gorman Performance Engineering, and have since put together a team of equally passionate and skilled individuals who all share a love of cars and racing.
We live and breathe every step of the process: design, manufacturing, testing and everything in between. Beyond our technical work, we have created an environment where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, and initiative is rewarded with opportunity. This truly is a dream come true, so thank you for being a part of it.
